In January 2008, in order to provide a higher quality level of public safety, and to ensure reliable medical protection to the communities of Northern Westmoreland and Southern Armstrong Counties, the membership of Oklahoma VFD/EMS, and Vandergrift VFD #2/EMS merged along with C&S Ambulance Service. This merger created Emergency Medical Management Company, or EMMC, Inc.
